Turtle Central
The Conservancy's gift shop on Federal Road: apparel, books, toys, jewelry, home goods, and red beach flashlights, with every sale supporting the sea turtle program.
Turtle Central is the Bald Head Island Conservancy’s own shop, on the Conservancy campus at 700 Federal Road, beside the foundation of the old Cape Fear Light. It began as a small T-shirt stand and now fills a store with apparel for the whole family, books and toys, jewelry, home goods, and gifts for pets, much of it turtle-themed.
Every purchase supports the Conservancy, including its sea turtle protection program. It’s also the place to pick up a red flashlight before a night walk on the beach in nesting season, when white light can confuse nesting turtles and hatchlings heading for the water.
