Island Package Center & Post Office

Also known as Bald Head Island Post Office

Lighthouse Wynd

The island's post office and package center on Lighthouse Wynd, run by the Village: stamps and shipping, PO boxes, and the pickup counter for every package sent to an island address.

The island’s post office works a little differently from most. The Village of Bald Head Island runs it as a contract postal unit combined with the Island Package Center, on Lighthouse Wynd next to Village Hall and the Village Chapel. There’s no home delivery anywhere on the island, so this is where residents collect their mail and where every package bound for an island address waits for pickup, some 75,000 to 80,000 of them a year.

For visitors, the package counter is the useful part. Ship to your rental’s street address with a phone number, track it online, and pick it up here. Just don’t cut it close: packages ride the barge or the ferry over from Southport, the barge doesn’t run on weekends, and the Village advises week-long guests not to count on a delivery in peak season.
